Abstract

Organised in conjunction with the exhibition Kings’ Inscriptions · Contemporary Interpretations, this lecture seeks to enrich the audience’s appreciation of Chinese calligraphy. The presentation will provide an overview of the historical roots of calligraphy in China, a summary of the kings’ inscriptions and calligraphy, and an examination of their impact on the literary and calligraphic fields. Following the talk, the speaker and exhibition curator, Sarah Ng, will discuss the evolution of contemporary calligraphy.
